Dish It Out is the Valley’s most exciting high-end culinary event. Your favorite restaurants are going head-to-head in a gourmet melee to knock out childhood hunger. This event has it all: top-shelf talent serving up their signature dishes, live entertainment and the Valley's most innovative chefs battling for the title of Dish It Out Champion. All proceeds benefit the hungry children who count on the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix for safety, meals and opportunity.

Chef Aaron May is a classically French-trained chef with a small empire of Arizona restaurants that are refined, yet approachable. His sophisticated and offbeat creations earned him a place in the Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame as “Chef Extraordinaire.”

Receiving the "Hero Award" from Edible Phoenix for chef/restaurant in the spring 2015 and named Phoenix Magazine’s "Best New Restaurant" in 2013, the former 'Truckin' Good Food' Chef JTK has continued to advance his neighborhood brunch and coffee spot into an award-winning destination. His constant drive for excellence has earned him and his team multiple Phoenix New Times "Best Of Awards." When it comes to inspiration, his attention to detail and playful approach to breakfast and lunch is nothing short of full-throttle.

Chris McKinley (2015 Champion)

Culture Shock Restaurant Group

At the age of 15 while working as a dishwasher, Chris McKinley fell in love with food and embarked on a culinary journey. From country club line cook in San Diego to sous chef of  Hiro Suzuki  to The Art Institute of California, he learned the importance of respecting the food and having a passion for every dish. He moved his culinary journey back to Arizona where he worked for Jean Georg Vongerichten at J&G Steakhouse, Chef Chris Curtiss at Noca, the Addison with Chef William Bradley and Sam Fox at North Italia. He then took the executive chef role at Atlas Bistro where he showcased his own flare. After two years, he opened his own restaurant in downtown Phoenix called The Local. Currently, Chef Chris is consulting for restaurants and doing an underground dining scene while working on his next restaurant concept.

 

Gregory wiener

Gregory Wiener is the Executive Chef & Director of Restaurants at The Buttes Marriott Resort and signature restaurant, Top of the Rock. Among many of his esteemed accolades, he most recently won first place at the World Food Championships in the Scottsdale Super Regional. He competed in the fish category and went on to the finals at the World Championships in Las Vegas. Wiener began his culinary journey at the Culinary Institute of America in New York. 

 

Juan Zamora

Atlas Bistro

From managing at the age of 18 to cooking for his two younger brothers out of necessity, Chef Juan Zamora was consumed early on by the culinary world and raised by the kitchen. Juan graduated from Le Cordon Bleu and never looked back. Zamora studied and worked under the tutelage of Chef Roberto Madrid at Deseo Westin Keirland and Café Bink with Chef Kevin Binkley.  He then landed the Chef de Cuisine position at Tarbell’s with Chef Mark Tarbell.  Currently Juan is now the Chef de Cuisine at Atlas Bistro BYOB.

Joanie is a food blogger, recipe developer and dining enthusiast.  Blogging since 2008, Joanie’s culinary world expanded significantly during her time as a vendor to the restaurant industry.  Today, she partners with a variety of food brands to create tasty and easy recipes for home cooks and travels the US seeking out delicious dining destinations, all of which is covered on her blog at JoanieSimon.com.  When she’s not cooking or eating, she and her husband are running herd on their two boys.
